Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Arrival Procedures
- Arrival is at 8:30 am
- All students (Pre-K through 5th Grade): Enter through Door 1 (main entrance)
- Bus Students: Enter through Door 8 (Marlowe St)
Dismissal Procedures
- Dismissal is at 3:40pm
- Kindergarten through 5th Grade Students: Pick up from inside the Gym, enter through the Gym Door on Hubbell
- Pre-K Students: Pick up from Door 8 (Marlowe St)
- 3:15 is the cut-off for early pickup of students.

- Bus Zone: Please do not park on Marlowe in front of the Pre-K Door 8
- Please cross the street only at the crosswalks. Citations may be given

Parent Academy
DPSCD believes that our parents' involvement in their child's education is key to high academic performance and school improvement. The Parent Academy offers FREE and CONVENIENT classes, providing our parents with the tools and skills to build their confidence and capacity in supporting our students academically, socially, emotionally and in the overall healthy development of the entire family.
Parent Academy is centered on three pillars:
- Student Achievement: Workshops and activities that provide strategies and tools for parents to support academic achievement at home and in school.
- Personal and Professional Development: Workshops that build confidence while addressing basic needs, employment, family support, financial literacy and goal-setting for the healthy development of families.
- Parenting Advocacy: Workshops for parents and caregivers to increase their effectiveness in advocating and leading on behalf of children.
If you are interested in attending a workshop, please visit visit the Family and Community Engagement page for more information. Courses are designed for parents, caregivers, and community members. Participants are not required to have a child in DPSCD. Our parents that have DPSCD children are more than welcome to bring their children to the workshops, if appropriate. PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal
The PowerSchool Parent Portal provides parents with direct access to student data via the Internet. Using a confidential ID number and password provided by their child's school, parents can create their own PowerSchool account using a web browser or the PowerSchool app and view their child’s data, such as progress reports, attendance records, report cards, transcripts and more. During account creation, parents can create their own unique username and password. The credentials listed on the form from the school will link the student to their parent's account.
How to Log on to the Parent Portal:
- Open the webpage
- Enter Username and Password, click “Log In”
The first time you log in to the PowerSchool app on your phone or tablet, you will be asked to enter the District's unique four-digit code: PSNW
If you have not been issued a Username or Password, or are facing challenges with your password, please contact your school for the required login information.

Tops
Yellow button-down blouse or yellow polo shirt
- Should be worn tucked into the skirt
- Long or short sleeves with a collar
- Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, wool or fabric blends
- Logos: Manufacturer trademarks, if any, must be one inch or less. DPSCD school logos are permitted and are not limited in size.
Bottoms
Green plaid jumper/skirt/skort or navy skirt/skort
- Leggings or tights may be worn underneath
- Skirts must be at least knee-length
- Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, wool or fabric blends
- Belts: If the garment has belt loops, a belt should be worn at all times
Ties
Green plaid or navy cross-ties
Footwear
(closed-toed and closed-heel shoes)
- Style: Athletic shoes, laced shoes, loafers, or dress shoes
- Students are prohibited from wearing steel-toed boots or shoes to school.
Navy Blazers or Sweaters (optional)
- Style: All must be worn over a collared shirt or polo-style top
- Hooded jackets or sweatshirts are not permitted to be worn during the school day

Tops

- Must have buttoned down or straight collars
- Tops must be worn tucked inside pants or slacks
- Long or short sleeves permitted
- Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, wool, or fabric blends
- Logos: Manufacturer trademarks, if any, must be one inch or less. DPSCD school logos are permitted and are not limited in size.
Bottoms
Navy pants or navy shorts
- Must be a solid color of navy blue
- Belts: If the garment has belt loops, a belt should be worn at all times
- Style: Slacks or pants can be pleated or flat front
- Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, wool, or fabric blends
Ties
Green plaid or navy ties

Transportation
Students who live within the school boundaries are eligible for free bus transportation to and from school. The pick-up and drop-off times vary based on the corner location. Contact the DPSCD Transportation Department at 313-945-8600 with questions or concerns.
AM Pick-up/Drop-off
CAY busers are picked up from their specified bus stops and dropped off at Door 8 (Marlowe Street).
PM Pick-up/Drop-off
CAY busers are picked up at 3:40pm. They are picked up from Door 8 (Marlowe Street) and dropped off at their specified bus stops.
